A period prestige melodrama set in a 1930s traveling sideshow — a family of outsiders who once banded together for protection, now rotting from within under a ringmaster selling off everything that made them a family. Seen through August, a twelve-year-old boy just old enough to understand what he's watching — and to decide whether to stay silent or speak.
